What We Believe

couplePurposes:

This independent church strives to be a place where one can come and worship God without the controls imposed by denominationalism. We seek fellowship and unity with all churches who proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior. We agree to place ourselves under the authority of the New Testament scriptures. “. . . endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace . . . until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:3-13)

Mission Statement:

It is the mission of the Oakley Community Church to prepare people to meet God.

We seek to minister to all by:

  • Introducing Jesus Christ to people as their personal Savior
  • Discipling new Christians
  • Reaching out to struggling or backslidden Christians
  • Building and encouraging mature Christians

Our endeavors shall be preceded by prayer, tested by God’s infallible Word, guided by the Holy Spirit, and done for the glory of God.

Statement of Faith:

We are non-denominational and seek to minister to all. We hold the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, as the infallible Word of God. We believe in the new birth, and that salvation is a free gift of God through Jesus Christ to all who will repent, confess their sins, and believe in the Gospel. We believe in the Virgin birth of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God. We believe in the deity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross and died so that we may have life, and have it more abundantly. We believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead and ascended to God in Heaven. We believe in the personal return of Jesus with power and great glory and that His return is an event for saved people to look forward to with great expectation and with constant watchfulness and prayer. We believe that this same Jesus who was taken up from the Apostles into Heaven shall come in like manner as they saw Him go into Heaven. We believe that it is the privilege and duty of every Christian be filled with the Holy Spirit, and to live a holy life, and to always be ready for the return of Jesus. In the meantime, we believe that every Christian should keep busy in His will, and His service until the Lord’s return.
